Its situation, how to reach it.

La Magnanerie is located on the territory of the commune of Ansouis in the natural reserve of Luberon where you can enjoy the softness of the climate, the harmony of the landscapes and the richness of the flora which make it a special place. Here each little wall reveals the attachment of man to this ground. The regional natural reserve of Luberon spreads over 68 communes. It was recently classified "Biosphere Reserve” by the UNESCO.

This site is of an exemplary beauty thanks to the multiplicity of its landscapes: mountain, valley, great extent of plains with fields of lavenders, vines, poppies... In the heart of the villages, you can discover authentic vertical lanes, full with charm, flanked dry stones worn  by the centuries and equipped with a flower cover.

Many tourist tours enable you to visit all the main villages of Provence.  The richness of the number of paths and of pedestrian ways will allow you to walk through landscapes. You will benefit from the calmness and the peace of this splendid country. The song of the cicadas will guide you to choose the places to discover. Ansouis is very well located to explore Provence, especially the hidden valleys and the perched villages of Luberon : Lourmarin, La Tour d’Aigues, Vaugines, Cucuron, Pepin d’Aigues, Mirabeau, Cadenet...
In the neighbouring city of Pertuis, you can find all essential shops and big stores. Its Friday morning markets very famous.

Within little distance, one can visit L’Isle-sur-La-Sorgue and his universally known antiques market, and the wine fields of the Côtes-du-Rhône wines : Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Châteauneuf-du-Page.
 
Less than one hour away by car, you can find the Abbey of Sénanque - splendid Cistercian building - , the medieval villages of Gordes and Bonnieux, ocre quarries and the patinated houses of Roussillon, as well as Avignon and the Palace of Popes, Aix-en-Provence - the beautiful city of the South - , birthplace of Paul Cézanne, with his smart shops and its shaded terraces or Arles, the Roman city, with its amphitheatre and its Gothic cathedral and where everything  speaks to us about Vincent Van Gogh.   Marseilles and its port are 40 minutes away by motorway.
 
Beyond lies the Camargue, a wild landscape of marshes, rice plantations and reeds, its breeding of bulls and horses and especially its unique in Europe ornithological fauna.

How to reach La Magnanerie

By motorway coming from Lyon:

A7 motorway, Senas exit, take left,   Nationale 7 direction Nice/ Aix-en-Provence until the first roundabout (+ - 6km),  take  D23,  direction of Mallemort/Mérindol/Pertuis until the next roundabout of “Bas-Iclons”, take D32  direction of Merindol/Pertuis. After having passed the bridge of the Durance, at the roundabout of D973 take it right,  in the direction of Pertuis,  continue for 15 km and pass the villages of Merindol, Lauris, Cadenet.

Once at the roundabout of Villelaure,  turn left direction of the village of Ansouis, At the entrance of the village, at the angle of the” place du lavoir”, take the road indicating the direction of the vineyard of St Estèphe de Neri. You pass a chapel on your left and after + - 800 m,  take the first road on the right, just before a small bridge, (VC 101 Brinde).  La Magnanerie is on the right side + - 50 m down the road.

By the motorway coming from Marseilles or Aix-en-Provence:

Take the A7/E712 for 3.5 km then  take the direction Aix en Provence, Sisteron by A7/E712/E714 for 8 km,  follow : Aix-en-Provence, Sisteron, Gap, leave this road towards  N296/E712,  continue for 6 km then  take: A51/E712 for 11 km, direction Sisteron, Gap, leave at Exit 15, Pertuis (toll 1,5 Euro).

Take right D556 for 3.5 km crossing the bridge of the Durance in direction of Pertuis. Arriving at Pertuis,  continue straight on while passing  several roundabouts and  pass under the railroad. At the D 9,  cross at traffic light in direction of Ansouis (Castle of Ansouis). Cross Pertuis and at the exit, at the roundabout,  take  left D119 (Boulevard des Jardins), at the next roundabout  take  right D56 in direction of Ansouis for 7 km.

 


  Direction to St Estèphe de Néri from the "Place du Lavoir".

 


Arriving at Ansouis,  take left, pass under the bridge,  take  right at the “place du lavoir”,   direction of the vineyard of St Estève de Neri. You cross a chapel on your left and after + - 800 m,  take the first road on the right, just before a small bridge, (VC 101 Brinde).  La Magnanerie is on the right hand side + - 50 m down the road.
